It's a sad day for New York hip hop, and in a broader sense, rap music as a whole. Sean Price, the venerated MC from Brownsville, Brooklyn, was found unresponsive in his home this morning at age 43. The cause of death hasn't yet been reported.
Price rose to prominence under the name "Ruck" in the duo Heltah Skeltah in the 90s, and would later go on to join the supergroups Boot Camp Clik and Random Axe. This year, he was fresh off guest appearances on Statik Selektah and Gangrene's respective albums, and was planning a solo release, Songs In The Key Of Price, for August 21st. Below, some of Price's closest collaborators pay their respects to him. His larger-than-life presence will be missed dearly.
