Yesterday, news circulated that Rick Ross had been sued for rape by association. Basically, a woman being referred to as Jane Doe filed a lawsuit, claiming that one of Rick Ross' affiliates, Thaddeus "Black" James, sexually assaulted her during Grammy weekend. Obviously it's a pretty serious situation, especially for an artist who was previously in hot water regarding some date rape-y lyrics.
Rick Ross has since responded to the rape allegations. Ross doesn't deny what may have happened, he simply clarifies that he had no knowledge of it, and that the person in question (Black), was an independent contractor.
"It has been brought to my attention that serious allegations have been made against an independent contractor, who's services I use often," Ross said in a statement. "And while I am not directly involved or implicated, as a man and a father, I take this very seriously. I don't believe any woman's safety should be compromised and she should never be forced to do anything outside of her will, regardless of the circumstances."
Ross adds, "While I personally have no knowledge of the specifics surrounding these allegations, it is my hope that this is rectified quickly and with sensitivity."
We'll update you as the case unravels.
