Rising ATL rapper, Rich Homie Quan, has been on fire recently with his summer hit “Type Of Way”, and his feature on YG and Young Jeezy’s record “My Nigga”. All this recent attention has brought out all the major labels, and it looks like Quan may have found his home.
All the signs and clues have us thinking Def Jam Records. Why? Last month, the official Def Jam twitter sent out a tweet telling people to download Rich Homie Quan’s new single "Type Of Way" on iTunes, and if you go to the link, the single is being sold via Def Jam Records. Also, fellow ATLien, Trinidad James, is on Quan’s T.I.G Entertainment imprint and that makes making a deal a whole lot easier. Don’t forget about Quan’s recent feature on 2 Chainz’ new album as well now. However, maybe the biggest clue yet is that Quan himself practically says it. In a recent interview with AHH, Quan spilled the news.
“I’m pretty sure I’ll be signing with Def Jam. I'm not saying how the deal go, but right now I’m still independent at the moment.”
This comes at no surprise at all though as Rich Homie Quan has been working a lot lately with Young Jeezy's CTE group. And despite being the Senior VP of A&R at Atlantic Records, Young Jeezy is still a solo artist at Def Jam and that may have had an impact in the decision. Keep your eyes out for an official announcement to come soon.
