Kanye West is still set on a White House run in 2020, but for the upcoming 2016 election, we were surprised to hear that he might support Republican candidate Ben Carson. West praised Carson, calling him "the most brilliant guy," in an interview with Vanity Fair last week. He also said he had tirelessly tried to have a phone call with Carson. In a new interview with ABC's "This Week," the Republican hopeful confirmed that he has indeed spoken to Kanye, and he had nothing but good things to say about the SWISH rapper.
Carson primarily praised West's skills as businessman.
"I did have an opportunity to talk with him. I was extremely impressed with his business acumen. He knows a lot about business. I talked to him about the possibility of maybe himself and some of the other people in pop culture doing some music that might be uplifting that might young women a sense of their value and young men a sense of responsibility. I think it could be a tremendous thing in our society."
As for the idea of 'Ye as the world's most powerful politician, Carson said he is "certainly willing to give [West] a chance," and added, "He'll be able to explain things and see if he resonates with the people."
Careful what you wish for, Mr. Carson. Perhaps they'll square off in 2020.
What do you think about 'Ye's endorsement of the GOP candidate?
