A disgruntled Oklahoma City Thunder fan has sparked a movement to change the name of Durant, Oklahoma to Westbrook, Oklahoma because "it is just another hideous reminder of what happened to our community."
Ryan Nazari, who started the petition, feels the state of Oklahoma is obligated to change's the city's name because of Kevin Durant's decision to leave in favor of the Golden State Warriors.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the great state of Oklahoma has been betrayed," Nazari wrote on the petition.
"Yes, it is understood that the city Durant was not named after the evil Kevin Durant," Nazari wrote. "But it is just another hideous reminder of what happened to our community. Support the Cause. #WestbrookOK"
In fact, the Vice Mayor of Durant says the city is actually going to bring up a resolution at the next city council meeting to try and make this thing happen.
As of the writing of this post, the Westbrook, Oklahoma petition has 1,999 supporters of the 2,500 needed. Some Durant residents have taken to the comments section to air out their opinions on the matter.
