After dropping his debut album, Mr. Blue Benjamin, at the beginning of the year, Peewee Longway was intent to put his name in the summer rotation with his new MPA 3 mixtape. A good portion of the tape is meant to serve as a platform for his MPA artists, but there's no shortage of big-time collabs, the most intriguing of which has got to be the Mike Will-produced "Jam On Em," featuring Rae Sremmurd and Bloody Jay.
The Mike Will instrumental is a slice of pure evil for the club, and each rapper brings his A-game, as the track includes a wide spectrum of flows and tempos. For each guy, though, the defining energy is one of turnt-up intimidation. Though the talents of Peewee and both Sremm bros shouldn't be overlooked (especially Jxxmi, who might have the best single verse), "Jam On Em" is easily the year's strongest addition to the #FreeBloodyJay movement. Jay, Young Thug's former Black Portland collaborator, has been locked up for some time now, and it's unclear what his prospects of release are looking like. One would think that "Jam On Em" was recorded before Jay's imprisonment; if not, then it's amazing just how well the hook matches the beat. Either way, free Bloody Jay and always remember to "Get It in Blood."
