Lil Uzi Vert found some overnight success with his mixtape-turned-album (now available on iTunes thanks to a deal with Atlantic) Luv Is Rage. He hasn't stopped there, building on his momentum with leaks including the energetic "Did It," collaborations with Young Thug, Post Malone, Playboi Carti and more. Most recently, he delivered a new single "Money Longer."
A few weeks back he was in NYC for one of his first New York shows, and we had him stop by the office for On The Come Up. With blue dreads in tow, Lil Uzi ran down his native Philly roots, the origins of his rap moniker, and his wide range of influences. Among his influences, Uzi cites Mike Jones, ASAP Rocky, Kanye West and a few rap outsiders: Marilyn Manson and GG Allin.
He goes on to speak about connecting with Don Cannon and ASAP Yams (RIP), as well as his passion for anime and how that started.
