With artists like Two-9, Makonnen and Key! all doing big things in the last few months, a new "New Atlanta" scene seems to be gathering momentum. Alongside the larger young success stories like Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan, but in a more alternative realm, these artists are keeping things weird while still putting out trap-indebted bangers.
OG Maco, another young MC from ATL who has collaborated with Key! in the past, has attracted some attention for his recent "U Guessed It" video. Shot mostly inside an elevator, the clip shows Maco and his crew wylin' out over a very minimal, piano-driven beat. In contrast with the music, Maco's voice barks and howls like a young Waka Flocka Flame.
