Odell Beckham Sr., father of New York Giants star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., has reportedly been arrested in Texas for "unlawful carrying of weapon" and "possession of marijuana under 2 ounces." According to TMZ Sports, Beckham Sr. was arrested in on Wednesday after officials in Texas say he was carrying weed and a gun.
The news just broke so details regarding Beckham Jr's father arrest are still unclear, but TMZ Sports is reporting that he was taken to a nearby police station where he was booked and posed for a mug shot before being released on $5,000 bail.
In Texas, UCW charges are often classified as misdemeanors, but they may be graded as felony offenses in certain cases.
Odell Beckham Jr. underwent season ending ankle surgery earlier this month, after he fractured it during the team's Week 5 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Beckham Jr. had 25 catches for 402 yards and three touchdowns in just four games this season. He missed the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys due to an ankle injury suffered during the preseason, which happens to be the same ankle he fractured.
Shortly after undergoing successful surgery, OBJ took to instagram to share a photo and let his 9.2 million followers know that he'll be back and better than ever.
The New York Giants struggled while the 24-year old receiver was in the lineup and things haven't gotten much better since.
The Giants are just 1-6 on the season but the good news is they can't lose this Sunday, because it's their bye week. The G-Men will return to the field on November 5th for a home game against the 5-2 Los Angeles Rams.
