Nas announces an upcoming "Illmatic XX" album, which will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Nas' debut album.

Just the other week we heard Nas' take on the possibility of releasing a sequel to his critically acclaimed debut album Illmatic. With the 20th anniversary of the album right around the corner, Illmatic talk continues to rise day by day. Today we've learned that their will be a 20th anniversary edition of the debut released, titled Illmatic XX.

Illmatic will turn twenty years old on April 19th, and four days before that time, you'll be able to cop the anniversary edition of the 1994 release.

Illmatic XX is already up on iTunes for you to pre-order, and will include unreleased remixes from album cuts, as well as all the original album tracks, plus unreleased versions of "I'm a Villain."

Check out the tracklist for the previously unheard cuts below, and peep the art in the gallery above.

In other Illmatic anniversary news, Nas will be performing Illmatic in its entirety alongside DJ Premier at the BUKU Music + Art festival in New Orleans in March.

[Edit: Nas will also be taking Illmatic on the road for a 20-year anniversary tour, where he'll perform the project front-to-back. The tour will kick off at Coachella in April, and we can assume the BUKU Music + Art festival will be a part of this tour. Stay tuned for the full set of dates. In addition, their will be a documentary released later this year, "Time Is Illmatic", which will look in-depth at the making of Illmatic and all that went into it.]
