M.I.A. announced her upcoming album, Matahdatah, this past July, when she dropped off a video for "Matahdatah Scroll 01 Broader Than a Border." The video, filmed in West India and Africa, included a song off her last album (Matangi) as well as one off the new one. We haven't heard from her since then, but today we get another taste of Matahdatah with "Borders."
M.I.A. hasn't been able to recapture the same radio-friendly effectiveness of her smash hit "Paper Planes" (we doubt she is truly trying to anyways), but "Borders" sounds like it could have that same appeal; thanks to banging Indian-esque production and a refrain that's sure to get stuck in your head.
Give it a listen.
