Slippin'

All in all, Meek Mill's 4/4 part 2 EP is a ferocious release, with nearly every track equaling the unrelenting energy of "War Zone," a record which not only takes aim at Drake, but manages to respond to multiple lines from the rapper's Summer Sixteen record, released a mere 10 minutes earlier.

With that being said, "Slippin'" is the one moment on the project where things cool down, perfectly placed just before things heat up again on "War Zone". Future comes through with a reggae-inflected hook, which dances nimbly over Beat Bully's cinematic sample (a nod to DMX's 1998 single of the same name). Meek comes through with an emotional delivery, but one that's no less aggressive than what we hear on the more knocking tracks on the project. After that, Harlem's Dave East keeps up with Meek, bringing some vivid imagery and understated storytelling to the table.
