Meek Mill finally dropped some new music tonight, and it came in the form of a 4-track EP titled 4/4. The EP included a remix of Drake and Future's "I'm Da Plug," and Meek used the WATTBA instrumental to fire a few shots at his main rival, but on another track, "Gave 'Em Hope," Meek turned his attention toward a different rapper, 50 Cent, whose beef with Rick Ross has been heating up recently.
"Gave 'Em Hope" begins as an inspirational anthem, portraying Meek as one of the few voices loud enough to speak up for his hood. In the second verse, though, it's clear the Dreamchasers rapper has a target in mind.
He begins by calling out someone in particular who's been "popping shit" on Instagram. He then implicates the G-Unit boss with a couple of numerical references: "I got 50 reasons say you're taking dick / And it's 50 reasons I should kill, nigga."
Meek soon points out that his girlfriend is one of the baddest to ever come out of South Jamaica: "Got the richest chick, she from your hood."
He goes on to call out the EFFEN founder for snitching, while clowning him for not being financially savvy like his good friend Floyd Mayweather:
"You know the game, if you cosign a rat, you forever a rat / We were never with that / You tried to go 'Money' May with that paper, but now you in debt cause you never were that"
The "rat" Meek is likely referring to is Rick Ross' groundskeeper, who told police he was kidnapped and pistol-whipped by the MMG boss. A few months after the incident, 50 Cent posed for a picture with the same groundskeeper at an EFFEN vodka event.
Knowing 50, he'll have a response for Meek in no time. Stay tuned.
