With its first official single finally seeing the light of day, Lupe Fiasco's Tetsuo & Youth is now in full-on pre-release season, with the rapper delivering interviews about the project to whip us into a frenzy of anticipation. His latest, as heard on Sway In The Morning, gives clues about its release date and gives us a more complete picture of the album's tracklist.
After kicking a thrilling freestyle, Fiasco chatted with Sway about Tetsuo & Youth. "The album is coming," he said, revealing that the release date has been set for months, "It’s not June. It’s not Ramadan. So there’s one month left." With the Muslim holiday Ramadan running until July 28 this year, August seems to be a safe bet for when the album will first hit shelves.
Fiasco also said that, in addition to previously-confirmed features from Rick Ross, Big K.R.I.T. and Trae Tha Truth, his upcoming album will have Ab-Soul and Chris Brown, as well as production from S1, DJ Dahi, Jake One and J.U.S.T.I.C.E League.
Saying that he believes Chicago rap should be more than a collection of "Chi-Raq" freestyles, Fiasco spoke on his new single, "Mission." “It was a reaction to take myself out of being the punching bag for people and then make music that I felt like if I die tomorrow, that I want songs to be like that,” he said. “I want you to remember what I did like that. Lupe put that into the world."
