Things aren't getting any better for Lifetime's upcoming Aaliyah biopic. Just eleven days after the deceased singer's family went on record about their disapproval of the film being put into production and refusing to give Lifetime any song rights to use their daughter's music, the lead actress in the project, Disney channel star Zendaya Coleman, has officially dropped out of the project.
According to a report by TMZ, the actress no longer wanted to be involved with the film after hearing about Aaliyah's family's reaction--an admirable decision considering the enormous boost in popularity she would have received if the film was aired.
For now, Lifetime has put the movie on hold. Whether or not they plan to keep the project in development has yet to be confirmed.
Are you still hoping this biopic will see the light of day or should the tentatively-titled “Aaliyah: More Than a Woman” rest in peace? Share your thoughts.
