Krayzie Bone, one of the founding members of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and proud owner of two Grammy awards, is currently on tour in Canada. However, he had to cut his tour short due to illness, and announced that he “will be back to make those dates up soon.” He didn’t say what illness, but just told TMZ that he is battling sarcoidosis, an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in cells throughout the body.
The disease most commonly affects the lungs and its treatment further lowers the immune system, which is why Krazie Bone thinks he caught a really bad case of pneumonia. Sarcoidosis is the same disease which claimed the life of comedian Bernie Mac. It disproportionately affects people of Northern European and African/African American descent.
He did not disclose when he was diagnoses, but seems to have been living with it for at least a short time. He sent a tweet on February 6 that simply reads, “Sucks being sick.” People took that as the sign of having a minor illness, but it may have been frustrating with his sarcoidosis. Our thoughts and prayers are with Krayzie Bone, and we’re awed by his commitment to music despite the life-changing diagnosis.
