Kid Ink is bigger than ever, and he's definitely seeing the effects of his growing popularity on his "My Own Lane" tour, which he's currently in the middle of.
HNHH had a chance to catch up with the rapper in New York, where he told us about his approach to touring, his new fanbase, and where he's sees himself in the next 5 years.
Ink explained the importance of representing each city that he goes to on his tour. "We've been bringing out guests. I try to always incorporate the city as much as possible," he said. "Whether I rock something from the team, or have somebody from one of the teams out, or I bring one of the artists from the city poppin' out."
He then listed some of the notable performers and athletes that have graced the stage with him over the last few dates. "We've had Macklemore come out in Seattle, We had YG come out in L.A. We had Ferg come out in New York. I brought out some of the Panthers when I was in Carolina the other day," he shared.
As far as fans are concerned, it seems like the rapper is gaining new supporters every day. "Stuff has definitely changed with the success of the single," he said. "'Show Me' has been going crazy. I feel like I've gained so many brand new mixtapes. I'm not the guy who was putting out all those mixtapes to them."
Ink sees his growing fanbase as an opportunity to branch out, saying, "It's like a rebirth almost. You get to start over and try a bunch of new, different things," adding, "But, still I always try to feed my core fans. That's really the goal."
When asked where he sees himself in 5 years, the My Own Lane spitter hopes to be experimenting more than ever. "Hopefully I'm in a position where I've proven a lot musically, and who I am as an artist, and I could really be more creative in 5 years," he said, before adding some Grammy hopes to the equation. "We've got our plaques, now we gotta get some awards."
