Kevin Gates is currently criss-crossing the nation on his "By Any Means" tour, but today he takes a moment to share a new jam with fans. "Out The Mud" is a typically soulful Gates joint, and is accompanied by ping-ponging production.
With lyrics that speak to his vigorous touring/recording schedule ("Twenty four hours, nigga, seven days a week, me I don't get tired, I let you other niggas sleep"), "Out The Mud" tells of Gates' rise from the South to nationwide recognition. His use of "mud" to describe his Southern beginnings recalls a line from Lil Wayne's "I'm Me" ("I'm from the mud, I am a missile like a Scud").

Quotable Lyrics:
I meant to say my client-ickity
Numbers official, we ticketing
Out the mud, ain't nobody did shit for me
Arrogant, often I'm bigoted
