There are plenty of reasons to look forward to the upcoming N.W.A. biopic, Straight Outta Compton, but you can officially add "Dr. Dre-helmed soundtrack" to the list. Dre's return to music seemed imminent through his connection to Apple Music, but it turns out, the first new material we'll probably hear from him will appear on the film's soundtrack.
Director F. Gary Gray recently spoke on the soundtrack, which he revealed he's been blasting at obscene volumes on his own time. “[Dre] went deep and you can hear some of his influences, with jazz and soul and a little bit of funk," he said, hinting that some original production from the celebrated beatmaker would be included.
Among the large roster of guests promised for the OST, Gray confirmed that both Kendrick Lamar and Eminem will be featured on the compilation.
The film will be out August 14th, and we assumed the soundtrack will arrive around the same time.
