Street artist KAWS has been a favorite among sneakerheads and streetwear connoisseurs for a long time. The artist has collaborated with a number of high profile brands, and has just revealed arguably his biggest collaboration yet: a KAWS x Air Jordan sneaker.
After photos leaked on NikeTalk of what looks like a KAWS x Air Jordan 4, the artist took to Instagram to get ahead of the rumor mill and confirm collaboration. He didn’t confirm which Jordan he was designing for, but he did acknowledge the photos in the post.
Assuming the leaked photos are at least somewhat accurate, we’ve got a solid look at the shoes. The shoes are not brightly colored like a lot of KAWS’ work, instead using an all black suede upper with gold accents. The real flash comes at the sole – it uses a completely translucent sole, showing KAWS’ signature X design on the bottom of the insole, similar to the MF Doom SBs. It may be an unfinished sample given how similar the shoe’s design is to the “Royalty” Air Jordan 4 that is coming out early next month.
No release date has been confirmed for the Air Jordan x KAWS sneaker, but KAWS himself said “spring” and the NikeTalk post suggests March 1. Keep it locked here for more info.
