Kanye West just released his sixth full length album Yeezus yesterday, but he is already being criticized for a lyric from the album. On the album's first track "On Sight," Kanye drops the line "get this bitch shaking like Parkinson's," which the American Parkinson Disease Association is none to pleased with.
"We find these lyrics distasteful and the product of obvious ignorance," Kathryn Whitford, Vice President of APDA explained.
The APDA is the largest organization of it's kind in the country, and has run for over 50 years.
This is not the first time Kanye has drawn criticism from an organization regarding his lyrics, when PETA responded to his direct reference to the animal rights activists, "Tell PETA my mink is dragging on the floor".
This is also not the first time a rapper has referenced Parkinson's Disease on record. Tyler, The Creator, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Chance The Rapper are just a few of the emcees who have used the disease in similar punchlines, though this appears to be the first time the APDA has reacted.
Rap lyrics tend to be questioned more than ever these days. Rick Ross and Lil Wayne each lost sponsorships this year due to lyric controversies.
Kanye West and his representatives have yet to comment on the matter.
