Rumours had been floating around the internet that a Kanye West sextape was being shopped. Along with the rumors is an apparent screen shot captured from the tape in question. Now West's lawyer has issued a statement that the tape was stolen from Kanye's apartment, and since it was obtained illegally is ordering sites to take down the image of the screen shot.
In a statement to All Hip Hop, Kanye's lawyer, Lisa M. Buckley of Pryor Cashman states, that the screen shot of a topless Kanye West, is from a computer that was stolen, "“Be advised that the Screen Shot, as well as the Tape from which the Screen Shot was taken, were illegally obtained and believed to have been stolen from Mr. West’s computer,”
This video depicts Kanye in a hotel room with an unidentified woman who states on camera that she is 18, and married. Apparently the tape was shot shortly before Kanye and Kim Kardashian began dating.
Since the tape was obtained illegally, it may never be released. Kanye's lawyer's statement continues in regards to the screen shot:
“Your posting, advertising, marketing, displaying and otherwise disseminating the stolen Screen Shot and/or other materials on the Tape constitute actionable violations of Mr. West’s rights of privacy and publicity. We hereby demand that you: (1) immediately cease and desist from posting, advertising, marketing, displaying and disseminating the illegally obtained Screen Shot of Mr. West.”
