Kanye West has tried his hand at his own fashion line, Dw, which didn't receive the best of reviews, but 'Ye was unfazed. The rapper is back at it, this time collaborating with a French brand, A.P.C., founded by his good friend Jean Touitou.
There had been rumors that something was in the works between A.P.C. and Yeezy for awhile, but now we get confirmation from the brand itself and from Mr. West.
A.P.C. announced on Twitter that the capsule collection will go on sale on July 14th, along with a photo of a pair of jeans with a red tag that says "A.P.C. Kanye." The collection is said to include jeans, t-shirts and hoodies.
Kanye West also took to Twitter to thank Jean Touitou for the experience. "Thank you Jean Touitou for letting me create with you," he said.
The founder of A.P.C. spoke on how this collaborative effort came about with GQ, revealing Kanye West was first introduced to him as 'Kenny.'
"Over two years ago, a visitor to the A.P.C. studio was announced to me as 'Kenny'. He wanted my advice on the fashion industry," Jean Touitou said. "At some point my crew informed me that his name was West, Kanye West. I introduced him to the A.P.C. design studio, and he kept asking how he could start something in that fashion industry."
Touitou continued, "Over the months, we kept hanging out and finally came up with the idea of doing a small capsule collection of clothes together. 'Small' meaning that this capsule collection consists of a jean, a hoodie and a T-shirt. Those are precious to me and to Kanye too, because it took time and thoughts to get there."
