The Chicago Bulls finally pulled the trigger on a Jimmy Butler trade during the NBA Draft last night, sending the 3x All-Star and their #16 pick to Minnesota in exchange for Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn and the #7 pick.
The Wolves used the #16 pick to select Creighton's Justin Patton, while the Bulls used Minnesota's #7 pick on Lauri Markkanen, the 7-footer out of Arizona.
Bulls Vice President of Basketball Operations, Jon Paxson, said this of the blockbuster draft day deal, per ESPN,
"What we've done tonight is set a direction," said John Paxson, the Bulls' vice president of basketball operations. "We're going to do it with young players. We're going to be disciplined and patient.
"These are hard things to do. We traded a guy we really like. Tonight, we made a decision to change direction and define our path."
Jimmy Butler's trainer, Travelle Gaines, also commented on the trade after it went down, but he had a much different approach.
Gaines took a shot at Bulls GM Gar Forman, saying he has met drug dealers with better morals.
