As July’s Mufasa's Way has emerged as the definitive release of Jeff Chery’s career, the Haitian Mufasa continues to bring his immersive brand of trap to the masses. After sharing the tranquil “Ridin on the Blocc” and “Cross the Line,” which came with a new video, Chery is back once again with the Floridian production duo known as HamSquad, with whom he will soon release a joint EP, entitled Vega. The new track, “Money on the Mattress,” follows last month’s “What You Doin?” as well as the single OJ Da Juiceman-featuring single “Juice & Soda,” the biggest hit off Mufasa's Way. “Money on the Mattress” might be their best collab yet.
Similar to “Juice & Soda,” “Money on the Mattress” finds Chery steadily seducing a woman with his melodic prowess. She also happens to be off the drugs, and the deal is sealed once she feels all the money underneath the mattress. The raps flow like Hennessy into a particularly smooth HamSquad production. Video game synths blend with R&B textures and trap drums, and Chery’s transitions are punctuated with the essential elephant siren. Can’t wait to hear what these guys have in store on the rest of Vega.
