Jay Z responds to Phil Jackson's "posse" comments during Monday night's Sports Illustrated ceremony speech.

On Monday night, Sports Illustrated held their annual Sportsperson of the Year ceremony at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NYC, where Lebron James & his family were on hand to accept this year’s award. And considering it was at the Barclays, it was only fitting that rap’s very own King, Jay Z, honor his good friend & take a look back at his career full of achievements.

While touching on King James’ efforts on & off the court, Hov got the attention of those in attendance & then eventually twitter when he threw a slight jab at Phil Jackson over last week’s “posse” comments he made about Lebron. ICYMI, Phil pretty much called Lebron a diva and referenced his business partners as a “posse,” which gained a lot of critique & media attention ever since, and rightfully so.

When describing James’, Hov goes on to say… "The son who honors and worships his mother Gloria. The friend who put his posse in position," as laughter ensues in the audience. Jay then proceeded with the following...

"We know where we come from. We do understand where we come from, and the only difference between us and someone who has their MBA from Wharton or Sloan or Berkeley or Stanford is opportunity. LeBron James has provided his friends with that opportunity. And as we witness their development, and if we're looking up at the scoreboard, very few businessmen are better than Maverick Carter, Rich Paul, Randy Mims, and all the rest of the posse behind the scenes that make it look like they're just hanging out."

Check out the full show (below) and fast forward to the 1:43:30 mark to catch Hov’s speech & jab while introducing King James.
