MTV News reports that Ja Rule suffered consquences because of a birthday phone call on February 28th.
Last week Ja scheduled a radio interview with Renada Romain's Ear Candy Mornings show on Hip Hop Nation. Following the phone call, on March 6th, Ja Rule faced a disciplinary hearing and the phone call was ruled unauthorized. His punishment is a seven-day work detail.
However, Ja Rule's publicist, Melanie Bonvicino, says that he is a model prisoner, he obtained his GED and started to take college courses recently. Bonvicino thinks that it was a different interview, one with New York Daily News, where Ja spoke on his relationships with former New York State Comptroller Alan Hevesi and former Tyco CEO Dennis Kozlowski, which upset prison officials. Bonvicino told MTV News, "That sort of created this issue with the powers that be at the facility because after that, they refused all interviews for him."
