It's been two years since Ibn Inglor released his mixtape NEW WAVE 2, and the Chicago native has been extremely quiet since 2014, coming out of hiding only recently to appear on Mathaius Young's "Broke The Rim" collaboration with Tre Capital.
Today he finally makes a proper return, with Mathaius Young returning the favor on "Pray For Health," which is produced by Arran Sym-- whom Ibn calls his best friend, as well as the man who produced the majority of his upcoming album (and fun fact, he's from Scotland). "Pray For Health" is akin to Kanye West's Yeezus phase-- dark, industrial and corrosive, slowing down only for a bridge that leads into Mathaius' feature. It's equally personal, as Ibn lays out his "demons," a direct reason for his lenghty absence.
He expanded on his hiatus to Noisey, citing a battle with depression. "I've worked through a bad state of deep depression. Last year I had no motivation to release anything. Everything I created sounded good that day and horrible the next. I completely scrapped three whole projects before getting to the one I'm at now. I've never dealt with depression before, so when it hit me, it hit hard. I didn't really know what to do or how to handle it or get over it."
Now that he's back on track, he's preparing a new album, Honegloria. Be on the look out for it.
