Hurricane Season

Hurricane Chris drops "Hurricane Season," his first tape since 2013.

You may remember Hurricane Chris from his breakout single, "Ay Bay Bay," in 2007. He hasn't come anywhere close to getting another top 10 hit, and though his output has been sparse, most everything he has managed to put out since has been banging. Chris hails from Shreveport, and you can hear that same fiery hunger in his rhymes that we've come to expect from the Baton Rouge kings Boosie and Webbie. His new mixtape, Hurricane Season, is his most high-profile piece of work in a long time, and with production from DJ Mustard, Drumma Boy, Zaytoven and more, the 19-track tape is well worth your time.

Last month, Chris put out the Mustard-produced "Sections," featuring Ty Dolla $ign. Mustard also produced last year's "Ratchet," which featured Boosie and was the first single Chris put out since 2012. This Mustard x Hurricane Chris partnership is unlikely but totally seamless. Both "Sections" and another Mustard collab, a thoroughly ratchet one at that, "Breakin Her Back," appear on Hurricane Season. Aside from Ty Dolla, the other big feature on the tape is Baton Rouge's Kevin Gates, who lands on "To the Money."
