What a pleasant surprise this is -- a collaboration that no one could've envisioned. Michael Christmas, a Boston emcee who's constantly taking his sound to new places, has joined forces with a beat-making legend in Prefuse 73. He's released many projects that are among the best examples of what instrumental hip-hop has to offer, including his masterwork One Word Extinguisher. As a duo, Christmas and Prefuse 73 call themselves Fudge, and they've just released their first single, "In My Shoes," featuring Brooklyn singer Alex Mali. With the new track, Fudge has announced that they will drop their debut album, Lady Parts, on September 9 via the London-based label Lex Records.
Lady Parts apparently came together at the Brooklyn studio of Fool's Gold producer Nick Hook. Find the album's cover art above and the tracklist, which shows a feature from D.R.A.M., below.
