Frank Ocean's Channel ORANGE won the Grammy for Best Urban Contemporary Album back in 2013, but his follow-up, Blonde, will not even be nominated at the 2017 awards. According to Billboard, the album, along with its companion piece, Endless, was never submitted for consideration, and upon missing the deadline, there is now no way it could be considered for this year's awards.
Knowing Frank, this is likely an intentional move, but so far there has been no explanation as to why the album was not turned in.
This is a very different approach to Chance The Rapper, who has been actively campaigning for the consideration of Coloring Book for awards this year.
Regardless of Grammy acknowledgement, Blonde is among the most critically adored projects of 2016. Read our review here.
