Back in February, we got a bit of a surprise when Brooklyn rap oddballs Flatbush Zombies paired up with Sacramento hardcore punks Trash Talk for "97.92," a track that sounded basically like a regular Zombies song. Now they've partnered for another, "Modern Mayhem," which is also released via Converse.
Like its predecessor, "Modern Mayhem" bears absolutely no trace of Trash Talk's insane punk dynamics, instead opting to occupy the same grizzled, dank space as many of Eric Arc Elliott's own tracks. Regardless, the track (produced by Trash Talk's Garrett Stevenson) is great, featuring a pair of stellar verses and a beat that's simultaneously chaotic and minimal.
Quotable Lyrics:
Old fades, we lose touch we part ways
I'm torn, my soul's worn my heart aches
Next time, I get mine I got paid
And I pay who, 'cause in truth we all slaves
