While Meechy Darko, Zombie Juice, and Erick Arc Elliot have kept a pretty low profile since releasing their debut album 3001: A Laced Odyssey in March, they have made not one but two appearances on late night talk shows -- a great look for the fully independent Brooklyn outfit.
This morning, the Zombies released their first music since 3001 in the form of a song called "Aries." It's about the institutional forces that keep marginalized folks down, which has the collateral effect of inspiring artistic expression. "Ghetto passion is classic been getting lashes for centuries," Zombie Juice raps.
"Aries" is available on iTunes and all streaming platforms.
Quotable Lyrics
Emancipation, castration, mass-hating, white-washing
Black-shaving, patience that I'm demonstrating
Segregation, separation, take my people, chain my people
Ship them out, build a nation, picket lines, demonstration
