With the launch of Nas' Mass Appeal imprint, we had heard rumors that he signed Boldy James, Bishop Nehru and Fashawn. While Boldy James has been confirmed as a signee of the label, we haven't received confirmation from the source on the other two rising MCs.
Today a press release was sent out announcing West Coast native Fashawn as an addition to the new label. Along with this news comes word that Fashawn's sophomore album The Ecology will be released via Mass Appeal on September 30th. The album will feature collaborations with Nas, Aloe Blacc and more.
Nas spoke on Fashawn's talent, calling him underrated. "Fashawn is one of the most underrated in the game," said Nas. "The world is gonna know soon. We're excited to have him as a part of the family."
Fashawn also shared a few words on The Ecology in the press release, saying, "I took the time to really work on this project because I knew it would be important not just for my career, but for hip-hop. I can’t wait to finally share my new project, especially through a label that gets my vision."
