Yup, Drake did it again tonight on episode 14 of OVO Sound Radio. Late into his set, after a Nas remix of Future's "March Madness," Drake finally dropped his new single, "Summer Sixteen." And he proceeded to play it 6 times in a row, in honor of his upcoming album Views from the 6.
Because of the few dancehall cuts Drake played before "Summer Sixteen," we thought the new single would sound like Rihanna's "Work," on which Drake featured. Quite the opposite -- this is the 6 man at his most savage, taking shots at Meek, Chris Brown, Tory Lanez, and last but not least, Barack Obama, who recently voiced his belief that Kendrick would beat Drizzy in a one-on-one.
After rinsing the track 6 consecutive times, Drake got on the air and revealed that Views from the 6 is arriving in April. An April release date should allow the album to dominate the airwaves all the way through "Summer Sixteen."
Purchase "Summer Sixteen" on iTunes. [Edit: Skip to the 34 min. mark on the stream of OVO Sound episode 14]
Quotable Lyrics
I used to wanna be on Roc-A-Fella
Then I turned into Jay
Now I got a house in L.A.
Now I got a bigger pool than 'Ye
And look man, 'Ye's pool is nice
Mine's just big is what I'm sayin'
I'm that n*gga's what I'm sayin'
