Drake has more than a couple of tracks that will define many people's summers this year, but according to him, he's not responsible for the best one. The Toronto sat down with MTV to talk about his choice to hop on Migos' "Versace," as well as regretting not getting on the OTHER huge Atlanta single from 2013, Rich Homie Quan's "Type Of Way".
"I was sitting with DJ Drama and a bunch of people in the studio just debating about Atlanta records and when I heard 'Versace,' right away [I liked it]," said Drizzy. "Shout out to Rich Homie Quan too, he's killing it on his own, but it was a toss-up between Migos and Rich Home Quan as far as records I loved and wanted to get on. I was supposed to do 'Type of Way' [also] and I probably should've done them both but I've just been trying to finish this album."
Not only did Drake express regret for not hopping on Quan's infectious single, he wished he had written it. "That record is the song of the summer, I regret not getting on it, but I feel like now if I get on it, people are gonna be like 'ah man you waited too long,'" he said. "I like to have the jump on it. I wish I would've written that record. That's Toronto talk — you feel a type of way, that's our lingo, so I should've probably been involved in that."
Champagne Papi described the criteria behind him adding a verse to a song. "As far as for people I don't know, I pick songs that I feel like I'll fit well on, or I have a flow for it. And then everybody else is just...I like organic things, things that come together. 'Jodeci Freestyle', for example, even though it's my record, it only made sense to throw Cole on it because he's just so good at rap that I wanted to hear him rap on that beat."

[Update: Quan Invites Drake To Get On Remix]
Despite Drake's thoughts that people would feel he "waited to long" to get on Rich Homie Quan's "Type Of Way," Quan himself is obviously more than happy to get Drizzy on the remix.
"We still haven't released the official remix, so it's not too late for Drake,"Said Quan in an interview with MTV. "I'm gonna reach out to him and try to make this happen. I was just really surprised he even noticed the song and I'm just glad it's [to his liking.]"
The Atlanta rapper revealed that the official remix to the track may already feature some big names.
"I'd get other people on it also, because the song definitely went to another level and right now I'm feeling a different type of way about a lot of things," he said. "We've been trying to keep [the features] a secret because when it hits, it's gonna hit hard. It's partially done, but I'm gonna reach out to Drake and see if we can make some magic, [because] I've always been a fan of his."
Quan then shared his experience of meeting Drake for the first time.
"I met Drake for the first time at Birthday Bash [Atlanta concert]," he said. "He embraced me with one of those real hugs, then he told me, 'Whatever you're doing, man, keep doing it. I came here early just to see 'Type of Way.' And I've always been a big fan of Drake. That's one of my major influences."
We'll just have to wait and see if Drake accepts the invitation.
