DMX spoke to Dr. Phil about his child support debt, his addictions, and his recent hotel-streaking incident.

DMX has not had the best year. Between filing for bankruptcy, being caught streaking a hotel hallway, and being arrested for a DUI, the rapper has not been portrayed very positively in the media. In an effort to humanize himself in the public eye, X appeared on the Dr. Phil show to explain some of his recent troubles, and his attempts to better himself.

Off the bat, X spoke of his naked sprint of the hotel lobby in Detroit. "The dare was 'order room service, and run through the hallway naked," he said, indicating that it was all in good fun, and was not necessarily thought out. "It's not about a good or a bad idea. It was 'I'll do that'.”

The Ruff Ryder then explained the reason he was so behind in his child support. "At a time, I was making $13 million a year. So if I'm making 13 million a year, I can pay that. So, of course I'm behind in payments, but the children are taken care of." he revealed.

X said that his charges for driving without a license, as well as his lack of income can also be attributed to the child support debt. "They take your passport, they take your license. How am I supposed to work when I can't drive and I can't travel?" he argued.

While the rapper has struggled with drug addiction for much of his career, he told Phil that he's gradually cutting his habits down."I smoke weed, I drink, yes, but that's it." he said. "And one day that will be gone. My faith is in god, and he's not gonna remove it all at once."

DMX remained confident that he would be able to overcome his obstacles, saying, "I'm taking steps every day to get better, and get to where I need to be."

The rapper also claimed to have "no regrets" about his past behavior. “I wouldn’t redo anything,” he said. “It got me right here, where I’m at right now. I’m in a good place.”
