Rapper Dex Osama was shot and killed early this morning, September 7, in his hometown of Detroit. Noisey reports that Osama was shot outside of the Crazy Horse club at around 2 AM. After being shot, Osama ran to a nearby gas station, where he asked an attendant to call 911, before he collapsed. He was declared dead at Detroit Reading Hospital. He was 26 years old.
Upon hearing news of Osama's death, rappers have expressed their condolences on social media, including Meek Mill, who shared a picture of himself next to Dex on Instagram. Along with the picture, Meek addressed his "fellow young kings," who, like Dex, might find their goals compromised by their dangerous surroundings: "MAY GOD BLESS HIS SOUL! Never let them streets shatter ya dreams!!!"
About two weeks ago, Dex had shared a snippet of a collaboration with Meek on his Instagram.
Dej Loaf had brought out Osama on stage during Detroit's Summer Jamz in June, and he had recently featured alongside Dej on the remix to "Lifestyle" by another Detroit rapper, Oba Rowland.
R.I.P. Dex Osama.
