Earlier this year, it seemed like Dave East was featured on a new collab every day. It's now been a week since his last feature (as well as his appearance in the video to his December collab with Fabolous), and today he's returned with a solo track titled "Money," produced by New York duo Buda & Grandz. The track is meant to get fans ready for East's upcoming "Hate Me Now" tour, which kicks off on Monday (Apr. 11) in Philadelphia.
The sampling is reminiscent of the late-'90s/early-'00s New York sound. East rips heavy bars, making sure all his punchlines end with an an old-souled woman yelling "monayyy," and he documents all the ways in which cash rules everything around him.
Quotable Lyrics
Prince of the city, I'm feelin' like Biggie
When Diddy first gave him that Bad Boy (money!)
A hunnid Hummers like Mannie & Baby
Since a juvie I knew I was hot, boy
Shout-out to Cash (money!)
