Common has been working on a new album, Nobody's Smiling, entirely with producer No I.D. At the end of last week he dropped a new leak with Vince Staples, "Kingdom." Now he's followed it up with a release date, plus news of a new deal for the Chicago native.
No I.D. was made the executive VP of Def Jam back in April (before that he was VP of A&R), and now Common has been signed to the label which also houses the G.O.O.D. Music imprint Common is attached too.
The album, Nobody's Smiling, is due out on July 22nd. Com previously said of the LP's concept, "We came up with this concept, Nobody's Smiling, it was really a thought that came about because of all the violence that was going on in Chicago, or that is going on. It happens in Chicago but it's happening around the world."
In addition to "Kingdom," Common has dropped "War" and "Made In Black America" with Ab-Soul.
