Common's new video "Black America Again" begins with footage of the Alton Sterling that sets the tone for a montage of weeping black Americans. Common communicates urgency in his lament for the cycle of violence and oppression that plagues Black America. "Trayvon will never get to be an older man / Black children, their childhood stole from them," he raps.
The song's all-star behind the scenes cast that includes production by Karriem Riggins and Robert Glasper, bass by Esperanza Spalding, and ad-libs by Chuck D and MC Lyte.
"Black America Again" will appear on Common's next album, which will include features from John Legend, Anderson .Paak, The Internet, Jay Electronica, and others.
