Outside of Memphis, Tennessee is better known for its country music than its rap. Clarksville, TN rapper Tim Gent's new mixtape Clarksville Nights, coming a couple years after the signing of Chattanooga's Isaiah Rashad to TDE, gives credence to the notion that a new generation of Tennessee rappers has arrived.
Laced with 16 tracks, Clarksville Nights combines a smooth, old-school aesthetic with Gent's youthful vitality, giving it a sort of Joey Bada$$-meets-Vince Staples vibe. It features production from Free P, HD and Rmur and appearances from fellow Tennesseans Case Arnold and Drisan Despain.
The tape is pretty much devoid of lame tracks, some hot tracks include "Knight On Time," "Jazz For Lil Flame," and "It's Like That."
