Chrissy Teigen gets real.

Chrissy Teigen, one of the stars of the hit TV series Lip Synch Battle and better known to some as John Legend's wife, recently opened up about her recent struggles with a substance that is commonly abused in and around the entertainment industry: alcohol.

"I was, point blank, just drinking too much," Teigen told Cosmopolitan in an interview. "I got used to being in hair and makeup and having a glass of wine. Then that glass of wine would carry over into me having one before the awards show. And then a bunch at the awards show. And then I felt bad for making kind of an ass of myself to people that I really respected. And that feeling, there’s just nothing like that. You feel horrible. It’s not a good look for me, for John, for anybody." The catch is that part of Teigen's brand has become that of a woman who's more than willing to have her share of cocktails. As the spokesperson for companies like Smirnoff and Stella Artois, it was hard for her to avoid the trap of giving herself too much rope, but now she says she's on the right track.

"Nobody really brought it up to me," she continued. "They just assumed that it was OK because I always felt OK the next morning. I knew in my heart it wasn't right. It makes you very short with people. People think it's cutesy and fun to go on these boozy brunches, but there's more to it. I've never once been like, 'I'm sure glad I had that boozy brunch!'" She said she flipped the mental switch during a recent retreat to Bali, the goal of which was to reset her health priorities. It was "really, really wonderful," she said. "I would wake up feeling amazing. My skin felt amazing. I was just so happy."

Teigen and John Legend have been focusing a bit more than usual on traveling this past summer, with designs on potentially having another child together in the future. That may also be a reason why she felt it was time to get her drinking habits back on track.
