Chris Brown really can't catch a break. Every other day the r'n'b singer seems to be in the news for law-related problems, or girl-related problems. His latest incident was a fender bender that took place last week, which the singer reportedly made much worse than it should have been by not giving his proper insurance information, and allegedly refusing to give the other driver his license plate number.
Just last week we heard the LAPD were investigating death threats made against the rapper, and now the LAPD are investigating a Chris Brown matter once more. The singer got into what could have been a simple fender bender last week, however, may turn into a full-out hit-and-run investigation, which isn't good for Breezy's probation.
Chris, who was driving with ex-girlfriend Karreuche Tran at the time, was apparently uncooperative with the other driver involved in the accident, allegedly refusing to give the woman his driver's license, instead giving her attitude and incorrect insurance information.
Chris Brown is currently on probation for beating up Rihanna, and one of the conditions is that he obey all laws. If this incident is considered a probation violation, because he refused to disclose information that is required by law, he could face jail time (however, it seems unlikely it'll come to that).
The LAPD are currently interested in talking with Breezy about what happened.
[UPDATE: Chris Brown reportedly says that the hit-and-run accusations are false.]
As we reported earlier, Chris Brown may be in hot water when it comes to recent fender bender, if the accusations against him are true. However, Breezy is calling bullshit.
The singer allegedly refused to hand over his driver's license and provided incorrect insurance information to the driver of a Mercedes he rear-ended last week. Sources close to Chris tell TMZ that he did give the woman all the correct information, and when his lawyer attempted to contact the woman not too long after the incident, she reportedly hung up on him. Apparently all subsequent calls made by Breezy's lawyer have gone unanswered.
Sources say that neither Chris nor anyone from his camp have been contacted by the LAPD so far.
[Update: Brown Charged With Criminal Hit-And-Run, Responds On Twitter]
TMZ reports that the L.A. City Attorney has filed 2 criminal charges against Chris Brown. The singer has caught a hit-and-run charge for leaving the scene of the accident without trading proper information, as well as driving without a valid license. The maximum punishment for said crimes is 6 moths in jail for each charge.
On top of the offenses, the incident will also be reported to the L.A. County D.A., as it may violate Chris' probation (stemming from the Rihanna assault case). If a judge rules that the singer has violated his probation, he could face up to 4 years in prison.
Chris has taken to twitter to deny all allegations, and criticize the jounalistic spin that has been put on the situation. "It's not a hit and run if u get out the car, exchange information (who has NO DAMAGE to either cars). This is really ridiculous" he tweeted, and has even gone as far as to include a picture of the undamaged vehicle he is said to have hit-and-run from as his twitter avatar.
