Childish Gambino was one of the many stand-out performers at this year's Summer Jam, warming up the crowds for the main stage with a stellar performance on the Festival stage, alongside the likes of Jhene Aiko (a past collaborator), Iggy Azalea and more.
While the rapper was chilling backstage during the Festival stage performances, we caught up with Gambino to talk about his SJ performance, his collabo with RiFF RaFF on Neon Icon and more.
When asked if he's ever actually met the "mythical creature" known as Jody High Roller, Gambino says, "We talk a lot, we text a lot. And he's supposed to come to a couple parties but he's always moving. I saw him at one of the awards show, and we did a show together in Texas. But we haven't really hung...I dunno if he's entirely real...I've never shook his hand."
Dondald goes on to detail how the collaboration "Lava Glaciers" came about, citing Harry Fraud as the connection.
Check out the full interview above, where he also discusses staying independent and his recent foray into singing.
Shout out to Beats By Dre for the press tent access.
