The week in rap and R&B sales and chart placements.

Since it's still pretty early in the year, we haven't had any big releases just yet, but that doesn't mean rap and R&B aren't selling a whole lot. This week, The Weeknd has moved back into the top 5 releases, while Bryson Tiller has hit his highest peak yet, proving his audience is growing each week. In other sales news, the RIAA has finally certified J. Cole's 2014 Forest Hills Drive album platinum

Take a look at the full breakdown below.

1)        The Weeknd—Beauty Behind The Madness: Abel is up from 6 to 4 this week, proving he's not going anywhere anytime soon. He's getting closer and closer to a million sales, with 45,322 equivalent units moved (15,905 excluding streams), making for 878,332 in total.

2)        Fetty Wap—Fetty Wap: Fetty takes a minor slip from 5 to 8, as he moves 35,689 copies (9,050 excluding streams). Seeing as he's still charting primarily through streams, his pure sales total is only at 263,000 thus far.

3)        Bryson Tiller—TRAPSOUL: Tiller has continued to surprise us, hitting his highest peak on the charts this week, up from 10 to 9. TRAPSOUL has moved 35,361 units (14,453 excluding streams) with a total of 148,000 in sales.

4)        Chris Brown—Royalty: Brown falls from 8 to 12 in his third week, becoming the third best-selling R&B album of the week, despite being the one most recently released. He moves 29,503 units (17,737 excluding streams) for a total of 216,000.

5)        G-Eazy—When It's Dark Out: G-Eazy sticks at 13 for a second week, moving 29,188 units (11,322 excluding streams) for a total of 172,000.

6)        Drake & FutureWhat A Time To Be Alive: Drake and Future have surpassed 500k in sales, but are still awaiting gold certification. This week they move 23,640 copies (4,918 excluding streams) for a total of 513,000. They fall from 14 to 17.

7)        Future—DS2: Future is down from 18 to 22, as DS2 moves 22,505 units (7,999 excluding streams). Like Fetty, he's still getting by through streams mainly, so the LP is still a ways away from gold, at 344,000 total sales.

8)        Drake—IYRTITL: Drake actually moved up this week, jumping from 29 to 24. He's still doing numbers since surpassing a million sold last year, with 20,801 units moved this week (9,389 excluding streams) and a total of 1,150,000 sold.

9)        J. Cole—2014 Forest Hills Drive: Cole's 2014 FHD was finally certified platinum by the RIAA this week, though it was reported to have moved over a million copies a little while back. This cycle it sells 17,715 units (6,406 excluding streams) for a total of 1,099,000. He falls one spot from 30 to 31.

10)       Kendrick Lamar—To Pimp A Butterfly: Kendrick sneaks bavck into the top ten hip-hop and R&B releases this week, moving from 46 to 39 on the Hot 100. He moves 13,590 units (8,977 excluding streams) for a total of 788,000 copies sold.

It's an historic week on the Hot 100, as Adele's "Hello" has finally been unseated after 10 consecutive weeks at the top. Unfortunately, it's not Drake but Justin Bieber who has taken over, as "Sorry" graduates to the #1 spot, debuting the same week as Adele 11 weeks back and not budging from #2 since.

Looking toward the bottom the chart, Kevin Gates' "2 Phones has made its debut at 93, amking it one of two songs of his on the chart, following "Really Really" at 83 (down from 79). Jeremih's "Oui" has also entered at 81. Meanwhile, Young Thug is up from 67 to 60 on "Best Friend," While Bryson Tiller's "Don't" and Post Malone's "White Iverson" continue their assent, moving to 17 and 14 respectively.
