After showing up on the show-stopping "Early" from Run the Jewels' game-halting new album RTJ2 a few weeks ago, singer/songwriter/Beyoncé collaborator Boots has dropped a new track on his SoundCloud. A rock-influenced that'll still appeal to R&B fans, "I Run Roulette" is as singular as its cryptic title suggests.
On "Early," Boots' slightly sleazy-sounding vocals and the electric guitars backing him up united to make him sound almost uncannily like Josh Homme of the band Queens Of The Stone Age, and "I Run Roulette" has even more of a Homme-esque sound about it (in addition to some heavy Trent Reznor vibes)Straddling the worlds of rock and R&B, Boots is carving out his own lane.
Quotable Lyrics
I've been tricked into a thousand different ways
Just hide myself away, right down the drain
That was all within a day
Not so sure no more, not so sure no more
