Beyoncé's LEMONADE arrived with a bang last Saturday, introduced with the HBO film, and later shared as a Tidal exclusive before making its way on to iTunes two days later. The hype surrounding the project was overwhelming to say the least, and the pandemonium induced by the LP has added up to some impressive first week sales.
According to Billboard, Bey's new album sold 653,000 equivalent album units, with a whopping 485,000 accounted for through pure album sales (in this case, iTunes downloads).
Bey now officially has the biggest sales week of 2016, though she will face some competition from Drake, whose 4th studio album, VIEWS, arrived Friday, and is projected to do some serious numbers itself.
Beyoncé is currently embarking on her FORMATION world tour in support of the album, and sales happen to be rolling in there as well.
