The last record we received from Audio Push was back in May, and it was actually a song the duo recorded at our studio in NYC, "Inland City Blues." It's rare that the HS87-signed group wait this long in between releases, but they're finally back this afternoon with a new set of vibes on "Check the Vibe."
For their new release they head back to the '90s real quick for inspiration, pulling from A Tribe Called Quest's "Check the Rhime." The inspiration doesn't just end with lyrical reinterpretation, the duo are also kicking it over some old school boom bap-esque production thanks to Hit-Boy. Meanwhile Oktane and Price reminisce about life growing up on the Inland Empire.
According to a press release, this song is "a preview of what fans should expect from Audio Push's forthcoming debut album." What do you think of it? You feeling the direction? We've been awaiting their debut album for a minute, stay tuned.
Quotable Lyrics
Man I get high and listen to Earth, Wind & Fire
Cause new music blows
You look surprised, ain't much music sold
If you won't say it, I will
Man music ain't been cold
I remember when that new music ain't get cold
They had them horns on it
That make you perform with your mama through the storm warning
Now that sound cold don't it
