Helpless

It's been 10 years since we got a proper collaboration from Ashanti and Ja Rule, the duo that once gave us immortal hits like "Always On Time" and "Mesmerize." Today, they reunite on a somewhat unconventional track, covering "Helpless," a song from Hamilton that will appear on the musical's upcoming mixtape. The two convincingly flip the lyrics to create a duet that brings us right back to their reign as one of rap and R&B's most reliable hitmaking teams. Ja Rule, who plays the Hamilton role, swiftly subs out the name Eliza for Ashanti, making dreams come true for Hamilton creator, Lin-Manuel Miranda, who says he wrote the song with the two artists in mind.

The Hamilton Mixtape is set to arrive on December 2nd, and will feature contributions from a variety of artists including Chance The Rapper, Miguel, Nas, Usher, Busta Rhymes, and more.
